# Registration and Platform Download

To download the installation file, you need to complete the registration process.

1. Fill out the form on our website by following this link, and provide the following details:

* user name;
* a valid email address (you will receive a confirmation and password);
* phone number.

2. Review and accept the terms of the user agreement by checking the box.

<figure><img src="/files/X9mvEB8Y2sd8JmerXNHS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
We also highly recommend subscribing to ATAS special offers. This gives you access to valuable educational content, plus you will be the first to hear about webinars, partner deals, discounts, and promotions. We promise not to spam!
{% endhint %}

3. Click “Continue” and you will receive an email with your login and password.

From that email, you can directly access your personal account.

<figure><img src="/files/N7tZQm7zLepapgOdzJJ1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once you are in your account, by default, you will see the pricing plans for trading on traditional financial markets. For cryptocurrency trading, the ATAS platform is completely free!

## Downloading the Platform

The installation file can be found under the "Download ATAS" tab.

<figure><img src="/files/OHMZNpSNqxEkPAjmAhYZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Before installing the program, we strongly recommend reviewing the software's minimum system requirements.

Pay particular attention to your RAM! This is often where users experience a bottleneck effect. With less than 8 Gb RAM, you can install and run the platform, but those resources won't be enough to utilize ATAS features to their full potential.

Also consider the operating system of your PC.

# Installing the Platform

Once you have downloaded the installer, it is time to install the platform. This process is straightforward, just like installing any other software. Follow these simple steps to get started smoothly.

{% hint style="warning" %}
ATAS is currently only available for Windows. While we are working on a macOS version, Mac users can still run the platform using Windows emulation software like Parallels or similar tools. For more details on installing ATAS on a Mac, check out this [video](https://youtu.be/kcTF2RudrQM?si=bP2IEeJW5CKRbPUJ).
{% endhint %}

1. After the download is complete, open the installation file. A window with the program installation wizard will appear. Read the license agreement. If you agree with the terms, select "I accept the agreement" and click "Next."

<figure><img src="/files/glEDRDc0onRf0IIosjfZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. The program will suggest a default installation path: C:\Program Files (x86)\ATAS Platform. You can change this by selecting a different folder by clicking "Browse" → "Next."

<figure><img src="/files/WcRkL8wHv8uAIWwNLTup" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. The program will prompt you to select the version of the platform to install. Choose an option from the list (you can find out more about the differences in the table below) and click "Next."

<figure><img src="/files/z10FVKNWAfooACqDKaEF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Latest" %}
This is the release candidate that comes out just before a new stable version. It includes the latest features that have passed beta testing and are almost ready for final release. The Latest version is installed by default, and it is the one we recommend for first-time users of the ATAS platform.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Beta" %}
An experimental version containing the newest features and fixes. Beta versions are released regularly and undergo testing, though they may still have some bugs.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Stable" %}
This is the most reliable version, thoroughly tested by the ATAS team and community. While it is the most stable option for daily use, it offers fewer features compared to the other versions.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

For trading in traditional financial markets, the Latest version will provide enough functionality for beginners. The Beta version is better for advanced users who know ATAS well and want access to the newest features.

As you use the platform, you will figure out which version works best for you. If needed, you can easily update from the login screen without reinstalling the program.

<figure><img src="/files/EDTPQ2s8Fk6nO6rrXRGJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once the installation process is complete, click "Finish." With the "Launch ATAS Platform" option checked, the program will start automatically after installation.

<figure><img src="/files/zQgt6WHiL0Va8ucKfkKD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# First Time Login

After installation, open ATAS and enter the login and password that were emailed to you after registration. To avoid entering your details each time, you can check the "Remember data" box.

<figure><img src="/files/b5jGmXHe8N2VXRMxLmYf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Done! The platform is now installed and ready to use. Before diving into the main interface, let’s take a moment to explore the login window — there are a few settings here that often confuse beginners.
{% endhint %}

1. At the bottom, you will find the button to select the platform version. When you click on it, a dropdown menu will display the current version of the program (selected during installation) and other available releases, which we discussed earlier.

<figure><img src="/files/uMzgbshg1jF9bsGKA68r" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. The dropdown menu offers five server options: F2, E2, T2, R2, and Auto.

<figure><img src="/files/u6GZmfRq0oPD68vJYmtO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default, the Auto server is selected, which automatically chooses one of the four available options. We recommend leaving this setting as it is because it is optimal for most cases.

Manual server switching may be needed if you are in areas with weak or unstable internet. In such cases, try different servers until you find the most stable one.

3. The "Workspace" field allows you to select and edit your workspaces before launching the platform.

<figure><img src="/files/mt5N62k7DTAEIyyImmAA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

We have set up a workspace for you called “default,” which we will cover in detail later. As you become more familiar with the platform, you will start customizing your workspace to suit your preferences, adding charts, indicators, preferred tools, and more. These workspaces can be saved to a separate list and selected before launching the platform.

You can also access the workspace editor \[2] here, which enables you to make changes without loading charts and slowing down the platform. If needed, you can export and store these files separately, which can be helpful when using your customized workspace on another computer. This is also the most reliable way to keep backup copies.

A yellow warning triangle \[3] will appear if the workspace becomes overloaded, such as having too many charts, drawing objects, or an excessive amount of historical data. This could cause the platform to slow down. You can optimize your workspace (for instance, by removing some charts or reducing the amount of loaded days) directly from the login window, without needing to fully launch the platform.

{% hint style="info" %}
After clicking "Connect," you will access the workspace we have prepared for you. It is designed to guide you through making your first trade on ATAS, and we will explain that process in detail next.
{% endhint %}

# Step 2. Explore Your Workspace

When you first launch ATAS, you will start with a default workspace that we have set up for you. You can customize this workspace through the main window. This window is your control center for managing all platform modules and features.

<figure><img src="/files/1KzQw3ZWtB1rdQVZwZK5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

From here, you can open charts, set up basic platform preferences (chart settings are adjusted separately in the chart module), view account, trade, and position data.

Further, you will mostly interact with this window as an intermediary before diving into your main workspace. For now, it is important to understand the tabs available and their functions. In this section, we will walk through the key elements step by step.

# Chart Settings

The chart is the primary module you will interact with. When you first launch the platform, you will see a few charts we have added and configured for you. However, it is important to learn how to use this module and set up your own workspaces, so we recommend reviewing the information below.

<figure><img src="/files/W7qCdO3y9JWQ72FeyHhs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To open another chart, click on the "Chart" button in the main menu **(1)** and then select the instrument for which you want to open a chart in the window that appears **(2)**.

By default, a candlestick chart will open, and you can start customizing it from there. But first, let's go over the key features and options available in this window.

You will immediately have access to:

<figure><img src="/files/ug77q4EE4ZXvf8EOYzGW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

1. Volume profile (on the left side of the chart).
2. Candlestick chart.&#x20;
3. Market depth on the right (if quotes are connected).

The chart interface includes several navigation blocks:

<figure><img src="/files/uT96Q50VSY2hj64fXWDL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* upper left menu **(1)**;
* upper right menu **(2)**;
* settings manager **(3)**;
* lower right menu **(4)**.

Next, we will take a closer look at each of these components.

### Settings in the Upper Left Menu&#x20;

1. **Frame settings** (including both time-based and custom frames). The default is set to M5, but if you are just starting out, we recommend trying non-time-based charts like range charts, which depend on market volatility and offer a clearer visual representation of current impulses and pullbacks.

<figure><img src="/files/l4J02HNIhd77QPv33IeL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. **Lot size selection.** Here, you can quickly choose a standard trading volume without needing to calculate risk manually. This feature is great for saving time when opening trades.

<figure><img src="/files/IYhcI8hsRQSzFSrRM5Li" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. **Preferred chart type**:

<figure><img src="/files/pUHtrG7RpJV5YGZisMYh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Candlesticks
* Transparent candlesticks
* Bars
* Clusters
* Line chart
* Area

4. **Drawing objects**. ATAS offers a wide variety of tools for adding different objects to your chart. As you become more familiar with the platform and improve your trading skills, you will explore these options. The list of tools is also available on the quick-access panel on the left side of the chart.

<figure><img src="/files/beTN7ES7dk28liVBARe1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

5. **Magnifier mode.** This feature makes it easy to zoom in on a specific part of the candlestick chart in a cluster view (you can also activate it by pressing the "M" key).

<figure><img src="/files/tQ8GCa5cK6TGlr0Czl4T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

6. **Indicators.** A standout feature of ATAS is its extensive library of over 240 classic and advanced indicators designed to simplify trading and improve efficiency.

<figure><img src="/files/A4cQoq69N0AsB0NnQ2R8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Various indicators help to:

* assess market sentiments and trend strength;
* identify entry and exit points;
* reduce risks;
* evaluate the impact of fundamental factors;
* and much more.

You can easily add or customize your indicators in this tab.

7. **Crosshair types**. ATAS offers three different types of crosshairs for your cursor:

* Pointer – a standard arrow.
* Crosshair – displayed as a crosshair.
* Global Crosshair – a synchronized crosshair that appears on all open charts of the same instrument, regardless of the timeframe.

8. **Saved templates and snapshots**. This tab enables you to save your customized charts and quickly reload them whenever needed.

You can save your workspace as either a template or a snapshot:

* Templates save the chart’s color settings and applied indicators.
* Snapshots (recommended) save all elements of your workspace, including chart templates, drawing objects, chart type, and timeframe.

You can also export your customized templates as separate files and store them on your hard drive.

## Settings in the Upper Right Menu

<figure><img src="/files/upvusLhtTttbQ37K9rGW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

9. **Scale.** This is an important feature that influences how easily you can read cluster charts. Many beginners do not fully understand its purpose, so it is better to get familiar with it early on. Scale enables you to "compress" adjacent price levels within clusters, which is particularly helpful for instruments with large price movements relative to the price step.

There are several options available for adjusting the chart scale:

* Auto setting (recommended for beginners) automatically adjusts the price step, grouping several adjacent levels into one, making the candlesticks easier to read.
* Manual input of the number of price levels to group together. This can be useful on range charts, where the "Auto" mode may not always work well. If there are too many candlesticks, they build too quickly or are too long, they will not fit within the chart. Experimenting with the scale can help achieve a more readable view. Scale can also be helpful on higher timeframes (H1 and above), where the "Auto" setting does not compress the clusters enough, making the numerical data hard to read. In this case, simply switch to manual mode and increase the value.

10. **Take a screenshot**. When you click the icon, a browser page will automatically open with a link to your screenshot. Once you start trading actively, you will see how handy this feature is.
11. **Full-screen mode**. You can maximize the chart by double-clicking the left mouse button while holding Ctrl.
12. **Window grouping**. This feature enables you to change the instrument on multiple windows within the same group simultaneously. Color labels are used to create these groups.
13. **Chart settings.** These are divided into four sections:

* Visual chart settings;
* Cluster settings;
* Trading settings;
* Template and snapshot settings.

14. **Topmost.** This option keeps your current chart visible above all other windows.

{% hint style="success" %}
Once you have mastered adding and adjusting charts, we will guide you on how to combine them for more advanced market analysis.
{% endhint %}

# Optimizing Your Workspace

Since ATAS is primarily designed for order flow analysis, we will enhance our workspace by adding clusters and learning how to combine multiple charts.

Right-click on the chart you have opened and select "Clone Window" from the menu that appears.

<figure><img src="/files/ZOQ25z7M73l8KTkkyzgM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you click and hold on the word "Chart" and start dragging the window, a crosshair will appear in the center of the main window. This crosshair shows where you can snap your chart. We will snap it on the right — just drag the window and release the mouse button over the central part of the crosshair.

<figure><img src="/files/xLgXP2bx5ENoDY3bpBkp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
You can configure more complex layouts in a similar way, with three or more tools snapped in different areas of the workspace.
{% endhint %}

This will give you a setup with two duplicated windows on the left and right sides of the screen. In the right chart’s dropdown menu, you can now switch from candlesticks to clusters and customize the footprint to your preferred view.

<figure><img src="/files/3823iLfPVQsrnEnDB9iw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
With global crosshair enabled, you get seamless synchronization, allowing you to analyze what is happening inside a specific candle (on the left) by using the footprint (on the right).
{% endhint %}

### Saving Your Workspace

Once you have customized the workspace we prepared for you, or created a new one from scratch tailored to your needs, you can save it when exiting the platform. Simply click the close button in the upper-right corner of the platform and check the box to confirm the save.

<figure><img src="/files/8WzxRhunu18wdLSdmM8B" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you decide to start the platform without a pre-set workspace during login, you will be prompted to name and save a new workspace when you close the platform.

If you have already saved your workspace but want to update it, go to the "Settings" tab, then select "Workspaces." Find the workspace you want to update and click "Save".

<figure><img src="/files/JvzOaqk06M4mPyhgRShO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
You can also use this window to perform other tasks with your workspace, such as exporting it to another computer or creating a backup.
{% endhint %}

# Chart Settings

Now that you have learned how to customize your workspace to fit your needs, let’s walk through a few general settings that are often adjusted before making your first trade.

### Hiding the Settings Panel

Since you only need to interact with the settings panel during the setup phase, it is helpful to know how to hide it, so it does not take up space or get in the way while you are trading. Just click the hide panel icon, as shown in the screenshot below:

<figure><img src="/files/hg81HkW5NTZberJFIQpP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Time Zones

This window enables you to adjust the time display settings in the ATAS platform. For instance, you can choose to have everything (charts and other windows) show your local time or the local time of the exchange where each instrument is traded.

To configure basic settings:

1. Go to the "Settings" tab and click the “Time Zones” icon.

<figure><img src="/files/QCV60vKxuR3gQ5hkBOZt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. In the dropdown list, select the exchange you are interested in and sync its time zone with your local time. This can be done manually or automatically by clicking the “Local Time Zone” icon (shown by the arrow).

<figure><img src="/files/eAqcPTJuVlQvIPXqASgL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can configure these settings individually for each exchange you plan to trade on.

### Levels Count

To show all the levels provided by your data provider in the DOM, you need to remove the default limit.

Go to the “Common Settings” tab **(1)** → find the “Depth of Market” section → set the “Levels Count” field **(2)** to 0.

<figure><img src="/files/xKH6IeOKbYFFBxfv6kge" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

We recommend leaving the other options in the “Common Settings” tab **(3)** unchanged.

{% hint style="info" %}
Over time, the platform may build up a cache, which can slow down loading time or cause issues with chart performance. To prevent this, make sure to clear the cache regularly, which can also be done from the “Common Settings” tab.
{% endhint %}

# Step 3. Start Trading with ATAS

Since we have connected the CryptoData demo quotes and the CryptoSIM demo account, you can now try opening a trade without any risk to your deposit. To do this, use the Chart Trader module — the main interface for trading directly on the chart in the ATAS platform. We will walk you through the key features of this interface and help you place your first trade on the demo account.

<figure><img src="/files/FTy5LU1JiZlfIJlcwTJE" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
By default, the Chart Trader panel is hidden. To open it on the active chart, click on the label in the bottom right corner of the screen or use the shortcut key "T."
{% endhint %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/W3uZbyHKo8nWMChusyr5" %}
[Placing Your First Trade](/step-3.-start-trading-with-atas/placing-your-first-trade)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/rR0eEqUZhL6huSwfW0aT" %}
[Exit Strategies](/step-3.-start-trading-with-atas/exit-strategies)
{% endcontent-ref %}

# Placing Your First Trade

In the trading panel, enter your desired trade size in the "Position Size" field. Then, click either the **Long** (buy) or **Short** (sell) button to place your market order. Next, you can set a take-profit and stop-loss by dragging the corresponding icons onto the chart.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Disclaimer: ATAS acts exclusively as a technical service provider (software tool), allowing clients to connect their own accounts via exchange/broker APIs for market analysis. All subsequent trading decisions are made independently by users and executed through their broker. [Learn more](https://atas.net/how-it-works/)
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/ib5mvUKc0mLZfVYTO5Mc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}

* **stop-loss** is an order that automatically closes your position when the price reaches a specific level to prevent further losses.
* **take-profit** is an order that closes a position when the price reaches a predetermined profit level. When a take-profit order is triggered, it will cancel any existing stop-loss order.
  {% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
You do not have to keep ChartTrader open all the time to make trades. Here are the most essential hotkeys for quick trading:

&#x20;Long (market buy) – W

&#x20;Short (market sell) – S

&#x20;Close position – Q

&#x20;Set a limit or stop order – Hover over the chart + Space + Left/Right Mouse Click<br>

&#x20;\*you can find other hotkey combinations in the hotkey settings.
{% endhint %}

If you want to buy or sell an asset at a better price, you can use a limit order. If you want to enter a trade when a certain level is broken, you can use a stop order. This order will open a trade at market price when the asset reaches your specified price level. To do this, hold the Space bar, select the desired price on the chart, and left-click to place a limit order, or right-click to place a stop order. In the example, we have placed a limit order above the current price and a stop order below, for a sell position:

<figure><img src="/files/HKrLp6tk4NqUBF6WkjcN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Under the "Position Size" field, you will find additional order settings. For example, in the TIF dropdown menu, you can choose how long orders remain active:

* DAY – until the end of the trading session;
* GTC (Good Till Cancel) – until you manually cancel it;
* FOK (Fill or Kill) – the order will either be filled immediately or removed.

Activating the OCO (One Cancels Other) mode will automatically cancel the second order in the group once one of the linked orders is executed.

# Exit Strategies

The main way to manage risk in trading is by setting stop-loss and take-profit orders. You do not have to manually set these exit orders every time. There is an interface for configuring and managing them in the lower part of the Chart Trader panel.

<figure><img src="/files/htdYqXP8MWiZXtbNYKGQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With semi-automated position management, a trader can focus on trading rather than on placing orders. By clicking the "Edit Strategy" button, you will access the exit strategies menu, which has two tabs:

<figure><img src="/files/sh5puXwVQnEtBQZcDEw0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Simple.** This enables you to automatically set take-profit and stop-loss orders at a specified range from the entry price. You can also set a trailing stop or adjust for break-even (after configuring the strategy, be sure to click "Apply").

**Multi-level.** Here, you can customize advanced scenarios, such as closing a position in two equal parts when TP1 and TP2 are reached.

{% hint style="success" %}
The ATAS exit strategies menu is a powerful and flexible risk management tool that simplifies protecting your positions and locking in profits.
{% endhint %}

# Step 4: Connect a quote source

## Connecting market data: a Rithmic walkthrough

Rithmic delivers market information at high speed and provides accurate exchange data. This guide covers two scenarios: how to set up a free 14-day trial to try things out, and how to connect a full paid data feed through the broker AMP.

<figure><img src="/files/Uu1EB40o5MB0HhSsK4No" alt="Rithmic license agreement"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Specify your market participant status:

* Select **Non-Professional** (if you are an individual and not a certified professional market participant).
* Click **Submit**.

<figure><img src="/files/uB0mJ18QXn3Cky3VwrMZ" alt="choosing market participant status"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Step 4. Activate your account and connect in ATAS

Once you’ve submitted the form, check your inbox:

1. Find the email from Rithmic and follow the activation link.
2. After that, you’ll see a confirmation that your account has been activated.

<figure><img src="/files/R0ZcSH5h8BAIi04iTrpw" alt="account activation confirmation"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**💡 Important when connecting to ATAS:**

When setting up the Rithmic connection in ATAS, make sure to select **Rithmic Paper Trading** in the server field — this is the server for trial and demo accounts. Use the login and password you provided during registration.

### Part 2. Buying a full subscription (using the broker AMP as an example)

The free trial is time-limited. To purchase a full monthly subscription to Rithmic exchange data, you’ll need to go through an intermediary broker. We’ll walk through the process with **AMP Global**, which lets you set up the subscription when you open a trading account.

#### Step 1. Open the data setup section

1. Log in to your AMP account.
2. In the left sidebar, go to **Trade Desk ➔ Live Trading Setup Requests**.
3. In the form, fill in:

* **AMP (USA) - Account Number** — your account number;
* **Request Type** — select Initial Setup (new).
* The Email, Country and State fields are filled in automatically from your profile.

<figure><img src="/files/xhoqFCawGHRcVPTrdHel" alt=" the Live Trading Setup Requests form in the AMP account area"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Step 2. Choose the data provider and the depth of market data

In the **Which DataFeed**? drop-down list, select **Rithmic**. The list of available exchange packages appears below.

<figure><img src="/files/p8cKgR7a6vtXGj1Izv3Z" alt="selecting Rithmic and the exchange packages"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**The difference between data depth types**

* **Top-of-Book (Level 1):** delivers the time and sales feed and the best bid and ask prices. That’s enough to build clusters, footprint charts, volume profiles and delta.
* **Market-Depth (Level 2):** includes Level 1 plus the full depth of the limit order book (DOM). This is what you need for Smart DOM, Heatmap charts and liquidity analysis.

**⚡ What sets Rithmic apart:** market depth is delivered in the detailed **MBO (Market-by-Order)** format. This is the raw exchange stream, which records every individual order up to the moment it is filled: ID, order submission time down to the millisecond, order side, price level, size, position in the execution queue and any change of state.

This data is what powers the premium **MBO Bundle** add-on — **Iceberg Tracker**, **Stop Runs** and **Sweeps Tracker**. These indicators visualize hidden limit orders, stop-run activity and aggressive market sweeps in real time, so you can analyze large-capital activity and hidden liquidity at the micro level yourself.

#### ⚠️ Heads-up: the margin special offer

The line \***Special — $300 day trading margins**… at the bottom of the list **is not related to market data subscriptions**.

It’s an option for the broker’s intraday margin ($300 on mini contracts and $30 on micro contracts).

Margin is the amount held as collateral against a position opened within the day. Whether or not to tick this box is a separate decision, and it depends on your own risk management.

### 📌 Mandatory Rithmic fees and billing terms

When planning your budget, factor in the provider’s additional charges:

1. **Rithmic Connection Fee ($25.00/month):** a flat fee Rithmic charges for having a connected account (User ID). It applies on top of the cost of exchange data.
2. **Rithmic Trade Route ($0.10 per contract per side):** the order routing fee ($0.20 per round turn).
3. **Calendar month rule:** you are billed for a full calendar month with no pro-rata adjustment — even if you switch the feed on for a single day, you pay for the month.
4. **Subscription binding:** the exchange feed is tied to a specific login and cannot be shared across different accounts at the same time.

**Non-professional status:** the prices above apply to Non-Professional status. Exchange fees for professional market participants are significantly higher.

Fees and package availability are set by Rithmic, the exchanges and the broker, and may change. Check the current terms with your provider before subscribing.

# dxFeed

Connecting to dxFeed

This manual serves as a guide to connect dxFeed accounts.

***

{% hint style="info" %}
Here is [**the link**](https://get.dxfeed.com/orders/new/atas) where you can order the online data subscription:&#x20;

This connection provides quotes for the exchanges **CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX, EUREX, NASDAQ**.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
It is now possible to open charts of instruments for which you have a subscription, but there are no such instruments in ATAS. In order to open a chart from dxFeed, you need to connect the dxFeed connector and select the dxFeed section in the instruments manager.
{% endhint %}

To do this, open the [Connection Settings window](https://help.atas.net/en/support/solutions/articles/72000612212-connection-settings-window).

In this window, click the **Add** button to add a new connection. Next, a window will open with a list of available accounts and quote providers. Select the **dxFeed** connection and click **Next**.

<figure><img src="/files/KN3WveLe7TiDDfBd3JcV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In the connection window, enter your login and password, fill in the necessary parameters, and click the **Finish** button.

<figure><img src="/files/brMTrAqUMWQh4irwkuBz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Common:

* Connection name - what the connection will be named (in the Name column).
* Data server, authentication server - pre-filled access parameters for the connection.
* Login, password - the data you have received for access to your account.
* Align by trading session - Disable to request all data. Enable to align data according to ATAS instruments. Disabling this option allows you to see pre and post-market data. Changing this setting may require cache clearing.

#### Limitations!

Days back with full volume - it means that clusters on dxFeed charts will be available for the specified number of days. How many days to load with full volume profiles? Adding more days will increase loading time but provide more data on the charts.

Number of visible levels - depth limit for the dxFeed connector. A value of 0 disables depth limitations.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If during connection you see the error Unable to load DLL DXFeed 64.dll - you need to [**follow the link**](https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=52685) to download and install both files.

## An important feature of Rithmic connection <a href="#an-important-feature-of-rithmic-connection" id="an-important-feature-of-rithmic-connection"></a>

Often the Rithmic connection is quite sensitive to the communication channel and CPU load. If the CPU is heavily loaded or there are problems with the communication channel, the Rithmic connection may become unstable.

### **There may be the following connection problems:**

✔ If you enable the plugin connection and then try to connect without the plugin, it will not work until the application is restarted.

✔ If you create 2 connections, one with the connection via plug-in, and the second - without, the second one will not connect.

✔ If one of Rythmic servers is unavailable, the connection may be waiting for a long time. You connect, a minute passes, you get an error, then you change the server and connect again->you will ned to wait a several minutes until the previous connection closes completely.

✔ Connection lost. In this case, ATAS will pop up the notification.

✔ Potential connection loss. This is a kind of intermediate state between connected and broken connection. At such moments, Rithmic sends messages like: ‘PnL Connection - Heartbeat has been quiet for XX seconds’ . Instead of a PnL connection, there can be Trading Connection, History Connection, etc. These messages indicate that there was no data exchange with the corresponding Rithmic connection (PnL, trading, historical, etc.) for a certain number of seconds. For a trader, this can mean the following:

* If there are problems with the PnL connection: perhaps the price, volume, direction of positions (which were received before from a working connection) in ATAS may be different than others on the Rithmic servers.
* If there are problems with the trading connection: submitted orders may be sent to the Rhimtic servers, but their statr may not be recieved back to ATAS

✔ That means, if there are problems of this type with Rithmic connections, ATAS cannot guarantee if the displayed information is correct. Therefore, ATAS provides 2 mechanisms to protect a trader from such situations:.

* When receiving messages likePnL Connection - Heartbeat has been quiet for XX seconds , ATAS displays a pop-up window in which it displays the text of this message.
* If user tries to place orders or change the position after recieving those messages, ATAS will require confirmation of the operation, which will indicate all messages from Rithmic that were received earlier:

<figure><img src="/files/2SdhvmgimqV2Nil0gtnM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this case, the user will need to decide for himself whether to execute this order or not. Similar messages are issued if the user trades through a Portfolio Group, which includes the Rithmic account that received the message data.

# Step 6. Learn Trading Strategies

Once you have made your first trade on a demo account, explored the platform’s features, and set up your real account, it is time to learn about basic trading strategies. These strategies will help you build a solid foundation for creating your own trading system when working with a real account.

To develop a reliable trading system, it is important to understand the following aspects when analyzing trading methods:

* Trading level: the area where a price reversal or short-term retracement is expected.
* Trading pattern: a signal indicating a potential short-term change in price direction.

Once you grasp these two concepts, the next step is to execute your trade and manage it effectively (risk management).

Throughout trading history, a wide variety of trading methods have been developed for identifying levels and patterns for trade entries. However, we will focus on those methods that help you identify trading opportunities in real time using advanced volume analysis techniques available on the ATAS platform.

{% hint style="danger" %}
The market analysis methods mentioned are for informational purposes only, to show an example of what a trading strategy might look like. To use them in real trading, you need a solid understanding of market mechanics and context. These strategies can serve as a foundation for further customization to meet individual traders' needs!
{% endhint %}

# Volume Profile Levels

The volume profile helps us identify where significant positions might have been accumulated, potentially by major market participants. Since these large players typically aim to avoid losses, it is reasonable to assume that these high-volume areas (potential positions of large players) are likely to be defended.

The ATAS platform offers various ways to visualize the volume profile. We will focus on using the Market Profile & TPO indicator, which displays the volume profile for the selected period (in this example, we are looking at AVAXUSDT on a 1-minute chart with a volume profile period of 30 minutes).

<figure><img src="/files/ife8tuCAaBHT1gIo4oze" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After adding this indicator to your chart, you can customize it as needed, but we will illustrate the standard display.

By default, this indicator shows:

* horizontal volume visualization for each price level (indicated by blue lines);
* the POC level with the highest trading volume for the selected period (in this example, 30 minutes);
* Volume Area Low/High (VAL/VAH) levels which are the upper and lower boundaries of the area where 70% of the volume was traded during the selected period.

Examining the chart history with this indicator, you will notice how the price frequently reacts to these levels, at least in the short term.

<figure><img src="/files/8Vtn3mCpUgP72dIRMjdh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you take a close look at the chart history, you will see that the price might not always react to a level right away; it might only respond on the second or subsequent attempts. That is why it is important to use specific triggers to help determine when the price is likely to bounce off a level. To achieve this, we will use cluster patterns, examples of which we will explore further.

# Cluster Patterns

Cluster charts visualize order flow in a trader-friendly format, linked to standard Japanese candlesticks. They enable you to see a familiar chart but also provide the opportunity to look inside each candlestick to better understand what is happening at that moment.

The ATAS platform provides various types of cluster charts. For example, let's look at cluster patterns on a Volume chart. This chart type is straightforward yet highly effective for analyzing cluster patterns. To use it, open your cluster chart and select the Volume mode from the top-left panel.

<figure><img src="/files/exgDXQi8OUGxh45XfgZ5" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Volume charts display the amount of volume traded at each horizontal level (similar to a volume profile) for the time period represented by one Japanese candlestick. Moreover, ATAS colors each cluster with a gradient based on its volume, making it easier for traders to identify key volume points on the chart.

In general, cluster charts, including those using the Volume type, can be analyzed in various ways. In this manual, we will focus specifically on key candles and their combinations to help you understand who is stronger in the market at a given moment: buyers or sellers (especially during a retest of a particular level). This will help you identify entry triggers for the market.

Key candles can be classified into the following types:

* **strong buyer candle** – the highest volume is located in the body or lower wick of the candle (if the price closes above the highest volume, it indicates that the buyer has achieved their goal for the moment and is currently in profit);

<div align="center" data-full-width="true"><figure><img src="/files/3o4ONoaN3KAaKryRDJio" alt=""><figcaption><p>Two strong buyer candles</p></figcaption></figure></div>

* **strong seller candle** – the highest volume is located in the body or upper wick of the candle (if the price closes below the highest volume, it indicates the seller has hit their target and is now in profit);

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/FyCrKNwh26zwrg5BOatB" alt=""><figcaption><p>Two strong seller candles</p></figcaption></figure></div>

* **weak buyer candle** – the highest volume is in the upper wick (if the price closes below the maximum volume, it shows the buyer has NOT reached their goal and is currently at a loss);

<figure><img src="/files/DC7nZqGLn6ZCsLfO4A4b" alt=""><figcaption><p>Weak buyer candle </p></figcaption></figure>

* **weak seller candle** – the highest volume is concentrated in the lower wick (if the price closes above the highest volume, it suggests that the seller has NOT achieved their goal and is currently at a loss);

<figure><img src="/files/koXqKSPcDmd91C66UTPt" alt=""><figcaption><p>Weak seller candle</p></figcaption></figure>

At any given moment (except for doji candles), we can assume which market participants are in control of the quote. To increase the chances of this assumption being accurate, you can look for combinations of key candles on the chart, which may signal a potential trend reversal, at least in the short term (particularly when aligned with a price level).

Based on this logic, if we see a weak buyer candle followed by a strong seller candle, it can indicate that the seller has taken control and the trend may reverse downward. Conversely, if a weak seller candle is followed by a strong buyer candle, it could signal that the buyer has gained control and the trend may reverse upward.

<figure><img src="/files/WrYycoEuGPg4XjqnOBPO" alt="" width="332"><figcaption><p>Buyer takes control</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/xYQZmL2iB9yqwNT6HW1i" alt="" width="248"><figcaption><p>Seller takes control </p></figcaption></figure>

In a situation where a key candle of a strong buyer/seller tests the maximum volume of a weak seller/buyer’s key candle with its shadow, the chances of the pattern playing out increase significantly:

<figure><img src="/files/QBVEswfPYJprnYROMj84" alt="" width="289"><figcaption><p>A strong buyer candle tests the maximum volume in a weak seller candle</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/8WcBNTVsuewtOyUuDojj" alt="" width="331"><figcaption><p>A strong seller candle tests the maximum volume in a weak buyer candle</p></figcaption></figure>

Additional factors that can enhance cluster patterns:

1. Presence of a volume level.
2. Alignment with the context of a higher time frame.
3. Combination with other cluster patterns.
4. Use of patterns on time frames higher than H1.
5. Integration with ATAS indicators (like CVD, etc.).

When you identify a cluster pattern, you can either enter a trade with a market order or place a limit order a few ticks above or below the closing price of the second candle that formed the pattern.

You can close a position:

* when an opposing pattern appears;
* at a significant level on the opposite side;
* using a fixed take-profit order based on statistical analysis (ideally from 1 to 3).

### Order Book Dynamics Analysis Template (Heatmap)

<figure><img src="/files/LDtnHI0FuNYjbJkuhBtk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This multifunctional template helps you analyze limit order activity in the order book and order flow. The DOM Levels indicator enables you to track changes in the order book, spot fake levels with large volumes that were canceled when the price approached, and identify real levels that either got absorbed by opposing trades or resisted pressure, leading to a price reversal. The template is built using one-second candles.

### Scalping Template with DOM Trader Module

<figure><img src="/files/cDD2ys2YsMC09v441Lte" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This template is based on the "Scalping DOM" indicator, specifically designed for easy scalping. It allows you to:

• Analyze clusters along with the Smart Tape and DOM volumes • Quickly enter and exit positions, place and cancel orders with one click, and adjust trading volume using hotkeys

• View pings of recent orders

• In the indicator settings, you can choose the price calculation mode: FIFO or FILO

• Arrange multiple charts side by side using ATAS’s layout system, creating an efficient workspace to monitor multiple instruments.

### Template Displaying Large Trades

<figure><img src="/files/HknB7i5BMmP2C99i37O9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This template highlights the capabilities of the Big Trades indicator, which marks the points on the chart where large market buy and sell orders were executed.

### Market Profile Template in TPO Mode

<figure><img src="/files/LC9C5WYJO2L4hFpUzWjc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This template visualizes market data using the Market Profile concept introduced by Peter Steidlmayer. The chart displays:

• Daily TPO distributions based on thirty-minute price movements

• Daily trading volume distributions

• Point of control and value area prices for each day.

The chart is created with the TPO and Profiles indicator, it offers flexible visualization options, showing additional levels, extending them to intersect with the price, breaking the TPO chart into sub-periods, and more.
